Stupid media

First of all: Congratulations to Barack Obama for making history.

Now on to the subject of this post. I was watching the news while eating dinner tonight, and of course one of the major stories of the day involved Mr. Obama somehow. Then some reporter goes on and proclaims that she has discovered the secret code names the Secret Service uses to refer to Mr. & Mrs. Obama. Then she proceeds to repeat them twice.
...
...
...
Now, this may not pose any security risk at all, and I may just be overreacting, but for fuck's sake...
buddy's had at least two attempts on his life planned so far, and he's not even the President yet! Does the media really wanna do anything to compromise Mr. Obama's safety? Crazy white supremacist lunatics watch the news too, you know. Also, the term "secret code name" implies that you shouldn't give it away on national TV.

Reporters are smrt

If I could vote in the 2008 Presidential election...

I would vote for Barack Obama. Why? Because he is not John McCain. I'm sure McCain is a decent human being, but in my humble opinion, he would make a terrible President, especially after the last one...
So here are some random ramblings and a few points on why you should not vote for Sen. McCain.

1) To me, he represents everything that is wrong with America. By wrong, I don't mean the last 8 years, I mean wrong since 1776. He represents the white Christian Right Wing conservatives that are pro-life but at the same time support the "War on Terror." Some of these people think that Jim Crow is a way of life. I'll rant more about these people in a different post.

2) Think of those who have loved ones serving in Iraq right now. Think of the military funerals. Americans should not be in Iraq. It is a useless war. I'm not saying that if you vote for Obama soldiers will instantly stop getting killed. No. But at least there will be an end in sight. Think about it: McCain is the third generation of a proud military family. Do you think he will send roses and chocolate to Ahmadinejad? What do you think will happen? Connect the dots.

3) Race does matter in this election. Having a black President will silence those people mentioned in point #1.

4) McCain will cut taxes for the rich. Didn't he say that the average American family makes $250,000 a year? He wants to cut taxes for these "average" people.

5) He had a hand in creating the mess that the US is in right now. He was one of the Keating Five, he supports deregulation. By the way, deregulation is what got everyone into this mess. Do you really think that the guy who made the mess will fix it? Oh and being one of the Keating Five means that he was involved in a corruption scandal FYI.

6) He picked an utterly incompetent running-mate. Great decision making, Sen. McCain! Alaska is close to Russia and Canada! That's enough foreign policy experience to run a whole country!!! She knows dick all about foreign policy and can't answer a direct question. Basically, she is only good for spewing Republican propaganda. She is also quite hot.

7) McCain is too old and might die while in office. See point #6.

8) He can't run a campaign. He keeps contradicting himself and he knows very little about the economy. When he resorted to mud slinging, he failed because everything he accused Obama of doing he has done more or worse. He can't pick a competent running-mate. Now his own party is ditching him. He can't run his campaign, what makes you think he can run your country?

9) He knows how to get Bin Laden!!! Except buddy's been dead for a few years now...

So the smart, logical, safe, sane choice is Obama. Unless you enjoyed the last 8 years, then vote for McCain. If you do vote for McCain, don't whine when you get foreclosed on and don't call for an end to the war when your son comes home in a box.

Now go and exercise your democratic right. But don't screw it up. Please.

McCain and God's reputation

Oh boy...where do I start on this one? Just watch the clip first:

Ok...this "Pastor" or "Reverend" or whatever thinks that God's reputation is riding on this election. As a Christian, I am offended by this and I have to call him out on his bullshit.

1. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

No I didn't just make that up, that's Deuteronomy 5:11 (KJV)

2. What does the Lord's reputation have to do with this election? The Lord is not a politician. His reputation is this: "To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him"
and that never changes. Smarten up, "Reverend"!

3. The reason that Muslims pray to Allah for McCain to lose is not because they hate the Lord. They pray to Allah because they, and everyone else who knows the truth about McCain, know that he is planning to expand the war in the Middle East. Specifically in Iran. Why? Because McCain is Bush 2.0. Anybody who has been following this election knows that! So these people pray to their god not out of hatred for the Lord or America but rather out of fear. In case you still don't get it, let me shorten that for you: they don't want to get bombed. Oh and no they are not rooting for Obama to win because "he's an Arab" because he is not. Even Christians are praying and hoping that Obama wins. Why? Because nobody wants war (except for Republicans and Al-Qaeda). I guess this "Reverend" is one of those wolves in sheep's clothing that Jesus warned us about.

4. Oh..speaking of which...guess who wants McCain to win? Yea that's right! Bin Laden & Co. So much for calling Obama a terrorist when the biggest terrorist organization in the world wants you to win.

To "Reverend" Arnold Conrad: Pull your head out of your ass and repent. It's for your own good. Also, please stop using your good-for-jack-shit asshat of a candidate to test/temp/blackmail the Lord. It just makes you look bad.

Oh and McFail failed again today. I'm not going to explain it in this post. Just go watch The Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

Ok there's my rant for today.

Internet Dyslexia

I have been noticing a really strange phenomenon take place whenever I chat on MSN or post on forums. I stick words into sentences that shouldn't be there.

Eg from a MSN conversation I had just now:

"today i learned for to make a user log in/log out thing"
and
"OR as a last result, "borrow" code from tutorials"

What are "for" and "result" doing in there? Seriously, this is creeping me out.
Could this be caused by my utter lack of typing skill? Perhaps my fingers are so much slower than my mind that I "think too far ahead" into what I want to type. Another one i've noticed is typing "which" instead of "with" and "you" instead of "use".

There's my post for today (Saturday).

Whoa...

As I'm sitting here killing time thinking about the US Presidential election that's coming up in 3 weeks something hit me:

The party whose first elected President emancipated the slaves is now running a smear campaign against a black opponent and trying to make him look like a terrorist.

The party that was once supported/influenced by the Ku Klux Klan has a black candidate running in the presidential election.

Oh the times they are a-changin'.

"Kill him!"

More fail from Sen. McFail

Days after rebuking a woman for calling Obama an "Arab" at one of his rallies, McCain has switched back to the negativity campaign.

This time somebody at his rally shouted "Kill him!" in reference to Obama and...
...
...
...
Nothing! No rebuke from McFail what so ever. The campaign's excuse is that people shouting hateful things at McCain rallies are just "a few nuts"...Uh huh...really?

Oh noes! Racists at a Republican rally! Who could have foreseen such a thing!

Oh I know! Sen. McFail could have foreseen this! How? Because he was the one stoking this fire! He has poked, prodded and generally encouraged this hatred without actually saying it himself.

And then he failed at mud slinging again. He tried to call Obama out on some supposedly shady dealings with voter registration but it turns out he was the one doing the shady dealings. Its late, I'm sleepy and generally too lazy to explain, so just watch the clip:

And once again, I urge you to watch Countdown with Keith Olbermann

Kokanee: a first taste

I'll be honest, I expected this to taste like piss water. I was wrong. I'm not saying that this is a good beer, but this is not utter crap either. The label says "Glacier beer" I say, "Does it matter?" You know, this is an ok beer. At first it tastes pretty smooth but then the hops kick in, and quite suddenly too. The thing I like most about this beer is that it leaves a very slight hint of sweetness, reminding me ever so slightly of Sleeman Honey Brown Lager. I have to say that it seems less hopsy than Stella Artois.

For me, the thing that drags this beer down into the gutter is its reputation. This is a cheap, let's party and pass out beer. I don't want to be seen drinking it.

-Slightly sweet aftertaste

-Bad rep

5/10

Stella: a first taste

I am 2/3 of the way through my first bottle of Stella Artois as I'm writing this. Understand, I am a beer snob. I believe that a man must be picky about at least two of these: women and beer. Now, Stella Artois was recommended to me by some friends so I was pretty stoked when I got my hands on some. Stella Artois is supposed to be really good. It is Belgian after all.

My first impression: meh

Seems like its the standard hopsy beer taste with a fancy label. Now, I realize I have just offended quite a few beer drinkers, but let me explain. This isn't Molson Canadian or Coors Light, it is a good beer but I am not impressed. Unlike my favourite, Sleeman Honey Brown, Stella Artois does not leave me with a pleasant aftertaste. the aftertaste is not unpleasant, its just...standard. Who knows, maybe I was expecting too much.

-Overall good taste
-A bit on the bitter side
-Standard aftertaste

7/10

Next up: Kokanee *shudders*

No ma'am, he's a decent family man

More Fail from Sen. McFail.

This whole week, McCain & Palin accused Obama of hanging with terrorists and implying that he is a terrorist himself. but now that his hick supporters have caught up to the message and are going over the line, McCain is trying to pull back the negativity in his campaign.

The problem for McCain is that he is stuck between a rock and a hard place:

1) He doesn't want to seem like a racist prick, so he is trying to silence supporters' shouts of "Terrorist!" or "Arab!"

However, the left already sees him as a racist prick.

2) The right is angry with him for trying to not be a racist prick.

So now he can't go back on or continue with the negativity campaign without looking like a loser. Oh and remember, he can't talk about the economy or he will lose.

Looks like McFail & Failin are going to lose.

Obama or FAIL

Soo...D-Day is quickly approaching. On November 4th, we will get to see whether Americans are a people who desire change or a nation of neo-con fools.

Lately I've been watching clips of the MSNBC show Countdown with Keith Olbermann. I have to say, I find it entertaining and informative. I have also read this article: Make-Believe Maverick. It is a bit long, but you really should read it. From these two sources I have learned a few things about which I'm going to bitch about right now.

First of all, The countdown reported that McCain's campaign has stopped focusing on the economy and will Instead go into full mud slinging mode against Obama. Ok let me see if I have this right. the American economy has gone to shit, unemployment has gone way up, people are getting foreclosed on left, right and centre, there is a $10 Trillion debt and McCain thinks he can get votes by telling people that Obama is a dirty A-rab terrorist? People are losing jobs and retirement savings and he thinks this is an important issue? WOW. Epic Fail #1

Oh and McCain can't even get the personal attack thing right. From the article, I read that McCain is one of the Keating Five. In short, 5 Senators who were accused of corruption in '89. Long story short, some guy wanted to do some risky loan stuff (oh hello, does that ring a bell?) but was not allowed because there were rules in place against that kind of thing. Basically, he gave the 5 Senators some money and they made the regulators back off. So McCain was involved in a corruption scandal that has some relevance today. Epic Fail #2

Later on, McCain would go on to push for, and vote in favour of deregulating the financial industry. In summary, the whole mortgage crisis is partially his fault. He recently "suspended" his campaign to pretend to try to fix something that he helped to mess up in the first place. Epic Fail #3

Ok, I'll let back off of the old guy for a bit. Let's move on to his sexy librarian type running mate. The Countdown mentioned that she accused Obama of "pallin' around with terrorists". Ok, let's look at what that's all about. Apparently Obama met some ex-terrorist at some charity meeting. Ok. That's nice. Keith Olbermann then goes on to mention how Palin had some dealings with the Alaskan Independence Party. Uh huh...she accuses Obama of hanging out with a terrorist, which is an incorrect statement, when she had dealings with a party that wants to break away from the very country she is running for VP in. Unpatriotic much? Epic Fail #4

In short, McCain will lose if he talks about the key issue. He utterly failed at the personal attack thing because there is a lot more dirt on him than on Obama and most Americans really don't care that Obama is an Arab. Also, McCain picked a running mate who looks like she belongs in a porno as a naughty librarian. Oh and I think I've been to more countries than she has.

Looks dim for Sen. McFail. I think his only chance of winning is the fact that there are people out there who are stupid enough to vote for him. I'm sad to say that this alone gives him a decent chance of winning.

Oh and I urge you to watch The Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Its an awesome show, really!

Chemistry

I found out recently that a lack of chemistry between two people is a big problem. Chemistry is the intangible thing in a relationship that ultimately leads to love. Without chemistry, a relationship can't last very long.

So, what is chemistry?

To me, chemistry is having something in common with that other person. A hobby, an interest or something you both enjoyed doing before you met each other. Chemistry is feeling just as happy being physically apart as being physically together. That is what chemistry is to me. Now, some may argue that it takes time and effort to build chemistry, but I disagree. Chemistry either exists or does not exist. There shouldn't be anything to work on.

Without this intangible, there are only tangible things. Now, the tangible things in a relationship feel good (oh yeah!), but that feeling does not last long and is ultimately harmful to both individuals. Let me illustrate this with an example:

Let a balanced diet represent chemistry and all the intangibles in a relationship
Let chocolate and ice cream represent the tangible things in a relationship

You can eat all the chocolate and ice cream you want, but ultimately it is bad for you in the long run because it lacks real nutritional value. If you keep eating these things, they will make you sick. But sometimes we lie to ourselves and to the other person and tell ourselves that the chocolate and ice cream have actual nutritional value. I made that mistake. It was a hard lesson to learn but I learned it. What I need is a balanced diet, not chocolate and ice cream.

There's my rant for today. No this post is not emo, just deep.

Live albums

I own 3 live albums (Our Lady Peace: Live, Metallica: S&M, Korn: Live & Rare)

I think that awesome songs sound even more awesome live. I think it is due to the imperfection and the "largeness" of the sound. Seriously, after listening to "Falling Away From Me" from Live & Rare the recorded version sounded downright weak. Same goes for "Right Now". Another example of a good song that sounds better live would be "Not Enough" from Our Lady Peace Live. I think that in the live version the guitars sound bigger and less restricted, if that makes any sense. "The Memory Remains" from S&M is epic too.

Now, it is not always the case that a live song sounds better. See for example "Freak On a Leash" from Live & Rare. Its just terrible! The guitars sound so weak. Also, "Until It Sleeps" from S&M. That song is supposed to be slow but they sped it up. Fail.

Overall, I think that live albums are awesome. I urge you to buy a live album by your favourite musician or band, it is totally worth the money. Live DVDs are even better, I think seeing the show helps the listener really get into the music. If your favourite musician/band doesn't have a live CD/DVD or if you are too poor to buy a live DVD (Korn live at the Hammerstein for $62 WTF!?) then I have one word for you: Youtube.

Welcome to The chronicles of Igor
